This is a collection of our best MFL Devices. The package contains the Sixteen Macros, Snapshot Morpher, Clip Mapper and MIDI Note Editor devices.
Detailed info on how to operate the devices can be found inside the Help window of each device and by reading the Info Texts of the parameters on the devices.
Some devices come in a MIDI and Audio Effect version so that they can be used inside MIDI and Audio Effect Racks.
Save and Recall 64 banks of parameters that can be controlled from 16 Dials. This means you can control up to 1024 parameters using just 16 Dials that can be controlled with your MIDI or OSC controller.
Clip Mapper
Map a clip to one of 64 Preset Slots. When a mapped clip is triggered, the number of that preset slot is sent out to a parameter of your choice. It was designed to work with the Sixteen Macros device, so that you can control a specific set of parameters when a specific clip is triggered. An example set can be accessed from the lesson that is included with this pack.
Snapshot Morpher
Save and Recall up to 8 presets of any 16 parameters in your Live Set. If you enter Morph mode, you can Morph between all 8 (or just a few) of these presets using an XY Pad. This is a performance effect so you can even go nuts by tweaking the XY controls with an effect like an LFO.
This pack also includes a few Audio Effect Rack presets that show this device in action, you can find these presets in the Audio Effect Racks folder.
MIDI Note Editor
When this device is loaded onto a MIDI Track, it will allow you to edit the clips on that track. The device is an attempt at copying the behavior of the Logic Note Editor. The time division for the position and length is Bars - Beats - 16th - Ticks. With a resolution of 240 Ticks per 16th.
Events are always sorted in chronological order, so when you change the position of a note, the list will update. The speed of the editor has been limited to prevent MIDI Feedback loops.
Thanks!
I have problems with sixteen macros. When i try to move the dials with a control surface they move randomly and not properly.Anyone experience the same?
I,m using a nanokontrol with the LC Xmu software to control ableton like a mackie emulation mode. All working fine with this controller and software but still getting troubles with sixteen macros. Also have a x-station, and i try to make some midi mappings and only works when i select none in pickup mode.I always use value scaling.
Thanks!
New things on this...If i don,t assign anything to the sixteen macros and move the dials with the nanokontrol they move perfectly with a smooth movement. All it,s perfect.
But i realized that when i made the asignations to the macros the jitter and random movement begins.Strange...
you are doing an amazing job. thank you so much for your contribution to the community. I wonder if you have a release for Live 8.1.3 of previous versions. This one is for 8.2.2 and does not work on my Live... :-(
just came across your patches, and they're amazing! Thanks so much for doing these up! I'm wondering if its possible for the sixteen macros patch to automatically load a preset bank when a clip is active.....or must you manually switch presets every time?
hi bjorn,
i wrote you months ago about my problem with the 16macros patch and my midicontroller. as i read in this comments i`m not the only one with that problem.
did you come up with a solution yet?
i wanted to start hardwiring the device to my controller, but the bpatcher isn`t included. could you send it to me?
thanks in advance

When you open the device, the unfrozen files including the bpatcher can be found on your desktop.
I'm working on an update for the devices, but I'm having trouble with the Undo history getting stuck into an infinite loop.
Hopefully I'll have enough time to get it finished this month, but I can't make any promises.
Hi there, this looks amazing,,, but the morph window isn't working properly. there is diagnal lines on it and no cirlces show up. I have the latest Ableton and M4L. Any suggestions?
Hi Bjorn,
thanks, but if I map just to the loadbox the clip will not change the snapshot, cause I have to press also "load"....
I tried to link the clip mapper to the Quick Load buttons, but it does not work... any idea?
Thank you very much for your help!

- Settings are not saved in Snapshot Morpher

Hi,
I really would like the snapshot Morpher. I configured everything in my Liveset, but when I close Ableton and reload the live set the parameters are lost :(
That means the values are still here (the orange position of the knobs) but the connection to the parameters are lost... do you know what could be the problem?
Thankds
Hmm. I can't reproduce this. Can you mail me a screenshot of the Max Window please?
It can be revealed by right-clicking the title of a device. Mail it to b [@] covops.org
When controlling a knob in the Sixteen Macros 2.0 device with either my Korg Kontrol 49 or Nanokontrol, there is a very inconsistent response. Moving a slider or knob on the midi controllers to the maximum value will yield a value of 75%, 85%, 95%, or a variety of other maximum values in the assigned "Sixteen Macros" knob.
Within the max device, values observed by attaching a print object to the output of the Knob GUI will vary between 0.8349... and 1.0 when the controlling midi knob/fader is at maximum.
When the same knob/fader is assigned to a standard Ableton parameter (like volume) the response is stable and consistent, ie. an ableton volume fader will always hit +6.0db every time the controlling fader/knob is at its maximum.
I'm looking into this, but no ETA on the fix yet. The problem seems exclusive to potentiometer controllers. I haven't had this report yet with rotary encoders.

- parameter names don't show up in Novation SL scree
|2011-12-17 06:15:14
I wonder why the 16 parameters of the snapshot morpher just show up as "dial 1", "dial 2" on my Novation SL MKII midi keyboard and not with their parameter names, like "cutoff", "res" etc.?
I'm using the Novation SL as a control surface. When I select a device, usually the parameter names show up in the screen of the SL.
