The Covert Operators

I have always loved the sound of a howling tape delay, and when I first got Live (version 3 at the time) it didn't take me long to start to build some of these routing structures I had previously worked with in hardware, using so called "dub mixing" techniques to send audio to delays and then manipulate the sounds within an effects feedback loop.

^^^ wow, that was a long sentence!

 Anyways, I have been rigging my machine to do HD video captures, and I think I finally nailed it. Please add any requests for future videos or comments on the quality/lack thereof, hehe. Click the first link below the video to go to vimeo if you need the HD version - cheers.

JuanSOLO   |2009-10-30 23:00:17 I use the AutoFilter on the second square random type wave, (second from last). Turn the Amount up, and quantize it, usually .5 - 3 on the quantize rate. You get the killer "king tubby" delay, with that random EQ shift. Very calssic DUB! Reply | Quote 1 0

Dek  - Orange Send   |2010-10-15 07:56:40 A thing that i really don't understand and that i can't get on my own project is why the send button of the feedback track is orange. I guess that you sends your chord sound into a send track called "feedback" or is it just another audio track? Reply | Quote 1 0

Vayner   |2010-10-15 08:04:00 Hi Dek, The second track is really just for recording purposes. Its sound is an exact copy of the Send A track. Its orange because monitor is off and the track is armed. If you were to record a clip, it would do so but you wouldn't hear it. The second track is not required to get this effect, only to record it. Cheers - Bjorn Reply | Quote 0 1
