This video shows how to activate the IAC MIDI Driver on OSX and how to add extra ports. The Inter-Application-Communication Driver is a built-in virtual MIDI Bus that allows MIDI to be sent from one application to another.

I have seen many great application with IAC, but unfortunately I am using Windows, Is there anything out there that might resemble IAC on windows?

I'm afraid Midiyoke does not deal with midi over LAN at all...

Who'd be ready to code an IAC client for windows ;)

ian - triggering logic from ableton

happy new years bjorn :) i have a question.

i'm trying to get logic to listen to midi data from an external source (e.g. ableton live). as in this video --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ixj-DiaB1s

i set up an IAC driver in the Audio Midi Setup of Mac OS X 10.7.2 . Then I set up the source of midi information (ableton live) with 2 midi tracks - 1 out to IAC Buss midi channel 1 , and the 2nd midi track from Ableton out to IAC Buss midi channel 2.

Then I set up Logic with 2 soft synth tracks (ES 2 and ESM). I set up the environment window, clicks and ports to listen to midi input from my IAC Buss, and not the default SUM.

Then I asked the ES2 track to listen to midi channel 1, and the ESM track to listen to midi channel 2.

I do get sound i.e. ES2 and ESM are being triggerd by the incoming midi data (coming out of ableton). However, both ESM and ES2 are playing all the midi notes i.e. ES2 is not only playing notes from midi channel 1, but also from midi channel 2. the ESM track is doing the same.

In the video above, the dude seems to have got seperation between the data from midi channel 1 vs. 2.

Any tips on how I can setup my system to do the same? Where could I be going wrong?

I'm not familiar with Logic. But I suppose, like Live, it has a default setting that listens to all channels in the track.

Hello! My IAC Driver wont even show up on my iMac...It just says LOADING and then after 10 mins says Audio MIDI cannot be opened....any ideas? Thanks!
