Kaoss Pad 3

Hello,

I understand that you have stopped development on this patch. However, I have a question...

The neverending frustration for users of Ableton Live and the KP3 seems to be getting it to map in Live. It can be done, as there's (very few) videos of people using the x/y as a midi controller, but Live reads the data from the pad as the same output (meaning you can't map x without mapping y to the same parameter). It looks as if this patch might provide a workaround, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how. Might you have any thoughts on the issue?

Thanks so much!

Hi Justin,

The patch does not provide a workaround as far as I can recall.
The problem is that 2 CC's are being sent at once. In order to not have to deal with messing around to get it right, you could just send those CC's from a different MIDI Port. For example routing a CC in a clip with a virtual MIDI Driver to the parameter you wish to control.
Its not exactly much easier, but less annoying.

Sorry we couldn't be of further assistance. Its been a while since we played with the PK.

Cheers

Dude! This is SICK!! Way easier than Farmpad.

But why do the MIDI notes start from pad 01 and increase to #16. This seems SUPER unintuitive for a drum controller. Is there anyway to invert this.

Otherwise, in tandam with the transpose function, it's a freaking KILLER Drum Rack controller. But as is, it's kind of wack as the hits are all upside-down.

Hi Oliver,

Its one of the reasons we provided the source files. Changes like this can be made for custom needs.

Not sure why the order is the way it is. Its been a long while since we played with this code or a PK for that matter.

Kind Regards,

- Bjorn

Hi Johannes,

I updated the package to include the pk1.pat file.

This should work with any software. The patch is just a MIDI parser. Nothing was made specifically for Live.

Cheers

http://www.maxobjects.com/?v=objects&id_objet=1179&requested=change&operateur=AND&id_plateforme=0&id_format=0

The original site it came from seems busted. This stuff definitely pre-dates Max 4.6.

I'm sorry we can't help more with this patch. We haven't had one of these units in years. These days everything has pads that light up and that was mostly why we tinkered with this in the first place.
